The open-access journal Biogeosciences has tentatively agreed to produce a special issue related to the Third Symposium on The Ocean in a High-CO2 World. One of the questions they would like us to answer is how many papers might be submitted to be included in the special issue. Please send a message to secretariat@scor-int.org as soon as possible (and no later than 15 July) to let us know if you intend to submit a paper for the special issue. (You can change your mind later, but we need a rough count.) We selected Biogeosciences for the special issue for a variety of reasons; one important one is that the papers are accepted and considered published individually, thus making the papers eligible to be considered for IPCC WG II. (The cut-off date for submitted papers is 31 Jan 2013 and the cut-off date for accepted papers is 31 August 2013.) We recommend that authors wishing to submit a paper for the special issue have their near-final draft available by the time of the symposium, and that they finalize and submit their papers soon after the symposium. The team of special editors will be led by the International Planning Committee and others may be added, depending on number and subject matter of submitted papers.
